Controlled Substances

Controlled substances are medications that require extra monitoring due to their potential for misuse. Examples include:

  • Anxiety medications: Xanax, Ativan, Valium, etc
  • Sleep medications: Lunesta, Ambien, etc
  • ADHD medications: Adderall, Ritalin, etc

At Impact Mental Wellness, we take a comprehensive approach to treatment. We prioritize non-controlled medications, therapeutic interventions, and lifestyle strategies as first-line options. Controlled substances may be considered on a case-by-case basis when clinically appropriate, after a thorough evaluation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@impactmentalwellness.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A urine drug screen is required before starting any controlled substance. Additional screens may be done from time to time as part of your ongoing care.

If a urine drug screen detects marijuana, alcohol, or excessive amounts of caffeine, it may affect whether a controlled substance is prescribed.

Approval is at the full discretion of the provider. These documents require an established clinical relationship to ensure accuracy, clinical integrity, and appropriate support of your care.

Letters and forms needed for work or school are completed during your appointment to ensure accurate information. Please allow 5 to 10 business days for the letter to be completed and sent to you via the patient portal.

Forms and letters completed outside of appointments will require a fee based on the number of pages.

ESA letters require thorough assessment and documentation, which goes beyond the scope of our practice's capabilities.
