Our Approach

Our Approach

Faith-centered. Evidence-based. Culturally affirming. Unapologetically whole

Mental health care should never require you to leave part of yourself at the door. Not your faith. Not your culture. Not your story. At Impact Mental Wellness, we created a space where every part of you is welcomed, honored, and woven into your healing.

Too many people in our communities suffer in silence, not because help doesn't exist, but because the help that exists doesn't see them. It doesn't speak their language, understand their culture, or honor their faith. We built this practice to change that.

What Makes Us Different:

What Makes Us Different: We See the Whole You: Most psychiatric practices focus narrowly on symptoms and medications. We focus on you. Your history, your culture, your faith, your goals, your pain, and your purpose.

Faith Is Welcome Here: We are one of the few psychiatric practices in the DMV that offers genuine faith-integrated mental health care, not as an afterthought, but as a core part of our approach. And if faith is not part of your journey, your care is equally excellent, complete, and affirming.

Culturally Competent, Not Performative: Cultural competence at Impact Mental Wellness is not a checkbox on a website. It is lived experience. As a Nigerian-American woman who has navigated the intersections of culture, faith, identity, and mental health, Stephanie understands the unique pressures, expectations, and stigma that many communities of color face around mental health.

We Empower, Not Just Treat: You will never leave a session confused about your care. We explain the what, why, and how of every treatment decision. Our goal is not to create dependence on care, but to equip you with the tools to thrive.

Telehealth by Design, Not by Default: Our practice was built for telehealth from day one. This is not a pandemic workaround. It is an intentional choice to remove the barriers that keep people from getting care

Our Mission

At Impact Mental Wellness, we provide compassionate, faith-centered telepsychiatry services rooted in the belief that true healing begins from within. We honor the whole person, mind, body, and spirit, delivering evidence-based psychiatric care that embraces the cultural identity, spiritual values, and unique story of every individual we serve.

We believe in the transformative power of Jesus Christ to restore, renew, and empower each person to live a free, full, fruitful, and fearless life.

We create a safe, affirming space where healing is holistic and hope is anchored in truth. Together, we impact greatness, grounded in the promise that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. True healing, lasting hope, and real freedom are found only in Him.

Our Vision

Where We're Going

We see a world where:

No one is invisible. Every person, especially those in underserved communities, has access to compassionate psychiatric care that sees them, values them, and meets them where they are.

Faith and science unite. Evidence-based psychiatric treatment and the healing power of Jesus Christ are not competing forces. They are complementary gifts, and we bring them together with excellence and integrity.

Stigma has no power. Mental health challenges are met with understanding, not judgment. Seeking help is celebrated as courage, and every unique journey is honored.

Purpose is unlocked. Our clients don't just manage symptoms. They discover their calling, embrace their identity, and step into lives that are free, full, fruitful, and fearless.

Community is transformed. One healed individual becomes a light in their family. One healed family becomes a light in their neighborhood. One illuminated community impacts the world.

This is not just our vision. This is our calling.

Addressing Mental Health Disparities in Communities of Color

The disparities are real: Black Americans are 20% more likely to experience serious psychological distress than white adults, yet are significantly less likely to receive treatment. Only 2% of psychiatrists and 4% of psychologists in the United States are Black. Immigrant and first-generation individuals face unique mental health challenges yet face enormous barriers to accessing culturally competent care. Black women are disproportionately affected by perinatal mood disorders and are far less likely to be screened or treated. Stigma around mental health in communities of color and faith communities remains one of the greatest barriers to seeking help.

Our response: Sliding scale fees to reduce financial barriers. Telehealth to eliminate geographic and transportation barriers. Culturally affirming care from a provider who shares and understands the lived experience. Faith-integrated care that bridges the gap between the church and the clinic. Active efforts to normalize mental health conversations in communities of color.
